Tulips

Tulips

Dutch tulips are the gold standard of bulbs. Colors include, white as shown, or pink, yellow, red and purple.

daffodils

Daffodils

If you know daffodils, you probably think of the yellow ones of your childhood. While those are still the most popular, specialty daffdils can make a lovely and unique addition to your graden. With pink or peach cups, you may also find some with ruffled centers.

hyacinth

Hyacinth

Hyacinth are tiny bulbs, much smaller than tulips. They also do not reach the height of tulips either. But like tulips, a simple hole in the fall is all you need to enjoy flowers in spring.

irises

Irises

Irises are similiar to bulbs, but they're actually perennial tubers. A clump of roots is buried in much the same way a gardener buries a bulb. They require a bit more patience, however. While a bulb blooms in a couple of seasons, irises need a couple of years.
